Shane Guse
Shane Guse has over 25 years of experience in the music industry and is known as a top call player on stage and in the studio.
He is an 8x Canadian Country Music Association musician award winner, was inducted into the CCMA Musicians Hall of Honour in 2017, and was the inaugural recipient of the Country Music Association of Ontario’s Musician of the Year in 2024.
Shane has performed and toured extensively with countless Canadian Country artists, including JUNO and CCMA winners Dean Brody, George Canyon, and Jason McCoy, and pop superstars such as Richard Marx and Colin James, as well as nine-time Grammy award winner Ray Benson of Asleep at the Wheel. As a session musician his album credits include many award-winning projects, and chart toping singles. Television appearances include The JUNO Awards, The Canadian Country Music Awards, CBC by Request, Anne with an E the series, Murdoch Mysteries, and numerous CMT videos and specials
He is the founding member and leader of the Canadian roots group, The Western Swing Authority. With this group he has recorded several albums, toured in Canada and the U.S. and garnered four CMA Ontario Awards, three Academy of Western Artist Awards, two Independent Music Awards, CCMA nominations for Roots Artist of the Year, Group of the Year, and Alternative Country Album of the Year, as well as an International Western Music Association nomination for Western Swing Album of the Year.
Shane also holds a master’s degree in music and teaches at Wilfrid Laurier University and the Laurier Academy of Music and Arts on the Wilfrid Laurier University campus in Waterloo. Here he teaches private lessons, conducts workshops and teaches courses on improvisation. He has also worked with numerous schools in the Waterloo and Toronto District School Boards, and beyond, as a para-professional doing workshops with aspiring string students, and he has been a guest instructor at various other camps and events in Canada and the U.S.
